A stunning and vibrant antique hope chest from Mexico, possibly a wedding chest given from husband to wife. The front and lid feature flower-filled vases each containing a single red rose, a traditional symbol of love and fidelity. Handmade would have held household items such as linens that were collected by a young, unmarried woman in anticipation of married life. Original iron hinge and an especially well made lid that fits snugly. Fixed tray inside for smaller items. A stunning piece no matte.

Condition: Hinged lid is in good, functional condition. Expected wear, but overall excellent.
